ICT / Business


Students learn how to use hardware and software appropriately and how to choose the most appropriate software for given situations. Software used includes Microsoft Office and the Serif suite including web design software, animation software, draw packages and the Scratch games design software.


The business courses cover a wealth of business topics including, what it means to be an entrepreneur, marketing and market research, finance, sales, customer service, the legal framework, employment law etc

KS3 Curriculum plan/map

Year 7

  • Rotation 1 - Desktop publishing, PowerPoint project
  • Rotation 2 - Simple Animation, Publisher project on accessing templates, research into posters, invitations and greetings cards

How are Students assessed at KS3

Through assignment work at the end of a unit, use of grade descriptors to assign current and predicted grades

KS4 Curriculum plan/map

BTEC Enterprise

Learners will examine different local enterprises to develop their knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of enterprises and the skills needed by entrepreneurs.

BTEC Tech Award Digital Information Technology

Learners will develop their understanding of what makes an effective user interface and how to effectively manage a project. They will use this understanding to plan, design and create a user interface.

How are students assessed at KS4?

2 pieces of project work and an examination

Planning to have visits from entrepreneurs and computer software designers

Careers Information / Next Steps

Careers in Games design, software design, app development, ICT support, ICT/Computing teacher etc
